VG and PG What are they and what do they mean - E Liquids

In every type of sphere or world, there are some puzzling abbreviations and that is also true for the vaping world. There are a lot of words that get thrown around in the vaping world where people outside of it would scratch their heads for. At the centre of these conversations are VG and PG. So what do they mean and how does It enhance your vaping experience? Read below to get more information about the fascinating world of e-liquids!

PG and VG are two common base liquids used in e-liquids for vaping. They serve as the primary ingredients that carry the flavour and nicotine (if present) in e-cigarettes and vaporizers. Here's what they stand for and their characteristics:

PG (Propylene Glycol):

PG is a colorless and odorless liquid that is thinner in consistency compared to VG.

It is known for its throat hit, which is the sensation you get at the back of your throat when inhaling vapour. Many vapers find that PG gives a throat hit similar to that of smoking traditional cigarettes. PG carries flavour well and is often preferred for e-liquids that aim to mimic the sensation of smoking.

It has a lower viscosity, which means it is less likely to clog the coils of your vaping device. Some people may be sensitive to PG and experience irritation or allergic reactions. In such cases, they might opt for e-liquids with higher VG content.

VG (Vegetable Glycerin):

VG is a thicker, sweeter, and slightly viscous liquid compared to PG.

It produces large, dense vapour clouds and has a smoother inhale compared to PG. Many vapers prefer VG for its cloud production and the absence of a strong throat hit. VG is known for its ability to create a "mouthfeel" and enhance the sweetness of flavours in e-liquids. It is less likely to cause allergic reactions or irritations in comparison to PG. VG is thicker, which can lead to quicker coil buildup and potentially require more maintenance of your vaping device.

E-liquids can contain varying ratios of PG and VG, and the choice between the two depends on personal preferences and the type of vaping experience you desire. Some e-liquids are available in different PG/VG ratios, allowing you to tailor your vaping experience to your liking. Common PG/VG ratios include 50/50, 70/30, and 80/20, among others.

It's worth noting that some vapers may have sensitivities or allergies to PG, in which case they may opt for e-liquids with a higher VG content or seek out PG-free alternatives. Additionally, the type of vaping device you use may perform differently with varying PG/VG ratios, so it's essential to consider compatibility when selecting your e-liquids.
